David Earl Thomas

David joined Intel Capital in 2000. He is currently a Managing Director of Intel Capital responsible for our strategic investment activities in Latin America and is a voting member of Intel Capital's investment committee. David is a former board member of Smart Technologies (NASDAQ: SMT), and has served as a board observer or director at numerous Intel Capital portfolio companies. David served as a board member (and is Chairman Emeritus) of the Latin America Venture Capital Association (LAVCA) and is a founding member of the FGV Center for Brazilian Studies in Private Equity & Venture Capital. David has been directly involved in more than 60 investment transactions in a wide range of sectors. David and his team have invested in and managed exits from former portfolio companies such as: Groove (acquired by Microsoft), SONDA (IPO), Entropic (IPO), Consera (acquired by Microsoft), Digitron (private sale), Exactus (acquired by Softland); Spring Wireless (private sale), Yavox (acquired by Naspers), and Ativi (acquired by Euronet). Prior to joining Intel, David was Director at a middle market private equity firm focused on buyouts. His work experience also includes: corporate finance analyst at The Hewlett-Packard Company, CFO and institutional money manager. David is a permanent resident of Brazil and has degrees from St. Bonaventure University and The Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester.
