Michael Harrington
Michael has over 20 years’ experience in growth strategies and sustainable infrastructure. He has helped to build Actis’s business in Latin America including investments such as Atlas Renewable, Saavi Energia, Zuma, GME, Energuate, Valia Energia, Omega Energia and recently the firm’s first investment in the US, Catalyze.
Today he leads investment teams in Sao Paolo and Mexico City and is a member of the Actis Leadership Team as Head of Strategy. Michael also sits on the Investment Committee, Remuneration Committee and chairs the Partner Selection Committee.
Before joining Actis, Michael spent his early career in roles at Arthur Andersen and NM Rothschild & Sons, based in Mexico. Michael holds an MBA with distinction from London Business School, was a Fulbright Scholar in Mexico and has a Major in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Michael was also a volunteer in the US Peace Corps from 2003 – 2005 where his passion for growth markets started. He likens his role at Actis to his time there, with a similar focus on working with partners to build trust and effect change, just with a much larger scale of impact.
